HENDRICK'S GIN

“Loved by a tiny handful of people all over the world.”
“Preferred by 1 out of 1,000 gin drinkers.”
“It will ruin you for all other gins.”

A small batch gin distilled in Ayrshire, Scotland. (From the same folks that bring us Glenfiddich and The Balvenie single malt whiskies.) A marvelous infusion of juniper, coriander, rose petal, citrus peel and cucumber. The bottle is squat and round….almost a nod to gin’s medicinal roots, it looks like something you’d buy from an apothecary.

Velvety in flavor with typical juniper/ evergreen tastes but undertones of citrus and yummy herbaceous-ness and a clean finish. I like this gin on the rocks, with tonic or in martini with a cucumber garnish. Check out this fun summer deck drink recipe…tasty and refreshing!!

RECIPE:  Strawberry Jive

2 oz Hendrick’s Gin
2 basil leaves
4 mint leaves and a mint sprig
2 strawberries
¾ oz Stirring’s Simple Syrup
a couple dashes of fresh lemon juice
1 oz fresh orange juice

Muddle the mint, strawberries and basil leaves in the bottom of a mixing glass with the syrup. Add the remaining ingredients except the mint sprig garnish and shake well with ice. Strain into an ice filled rocks glass and garnish with the mint sprig.

Gott wine? If you're looking for a robust cab that won't break the bank, the Joel Gott "815" (named to commemorate the birth of Joel and Sarah Gott's first child on August 15) is a must-have. Blending fruit from all over California, including the Napa Valley, the Central Valley and coastal vineyards, the resulting wine balances everything each region offers. Dark and complex with a mineral vein and bright red fruit, the wine also has hints of black tea, turned earth and spice.

Chardonnay
$16.99 per bottle
$173.30 per case (includes 15% discount)

This Chardonnay has flavors of citrus, pear and jasmine with bright acid structure. To preserve these characteristics and retain the purity of the fruit, this wine was crafted using stainless steel tanks for fermentation and aging, and prevented malolactic fermentation. This is simply a clean, crisp, delicious Chardonnay unfettered by toasty oak or buttery lactic acid flavors.
