WINERY OF THE DESERT

Bodega Del Desierto (Winery of the Desert) is located in the town of 25 de Mayo, province of La Pampa, on the western border of the desert route to Patagonia, Argentina.
The 345-acre vineyard is planted with Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Malbec, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. With average annual rainfall of less than 9 inches, the vineyard manager relies on a drip irrigation system fed from a 9 million gallon reservoir on the property.
25/5 2005 Cabernet Franc is named after the town where the winery is located and is the first of three lines created by the winery. The 25/5 line was launched in the U.S. in 2006. It is the first winery in the province of La Pampa, a new viticultural region.
Pioneering California wine maker Paul Hobbs consults on the Bodegas del Desierto wines - one of several Argentinian projects that bear his hand. Hobbs, of course, had his start with legendary Opus One before ultimately beginning his own winery in 1991. A business relationship with famed Argentina wine maker Nicolas Catena in the late 1980s fired his interest in South America wine making.
