Animal, Vegetable, Miracle - A Year in the Life of Food by Barbara Kingsolver will change your produce buying habits. The first of our Michigan produce is arriving this week at Grand River Grocery and we hope you'll support our local farms - the produce is fresher, it's seasonal (a more "European" style of eating), and while not certified organic - it is better for you. Enjoy our Michigan growing season starting this week and if you're looking for a good read - pick up Barbara Kingsolver's book.
Enjoy in abundance now:
From Ingraberg Farms in Rockford: Michigan Asparagus, Morel Mushrooms (can hardly wait to get mine!), and Spring Garlic which is an heirloom variety that Ingrabergs have had for over 18 years.
From MudLake Farms: Assorted lettuces (their farm grows hydroponically), arugula (we can't keep it in the market), chives, and new this week - spinach and watercress.
Coming Soon: "CHILLIN N' GRILLIN" - Thursdays at Grand River Grocery! Authentic Texas style ribs from Backyard BBQ Grill Masters in Rockford AND Bos Farms will be in the parking lot with their farm fresh produce. Check us out on line www.grandrivergrocery.com under events for more information.
