TRAVERSE CITY WINE AND ART FESTIVAL

A couple weeks ago I attended the Traverse City Art and Wine Festival which took place at The Village at Traverse Commons.  It was a great evening where I was able to visit many of the Michigan wines we proudly sell at Grand River Grocery.  Here I am pictured with Chris Baldyga of 2 Lads Winery on Old Mission Pennisula and Shawn, the "wine guy" at Burrit's Market in Traverse City.  Chris and his business partner, winemaker Cornel Olivier will be joining us Thursday evening at Bistro Bella Vita for our annual Michigan Winemaker Dinner (a fundraiser for Local First) where we'll be featuring these amazing Michigan wines (sorry the event is sold out).  I hope you'll find time Friday, September 17 to stop in and meet both Chris and Cornel in our Michigan beer and wine tent at our LIVE! and Local Event.  We'll open the tent Friday afternoon and we've got a great afternoon and evening planned celebrating all things Michigan.  Oh . . .and the guys from Short's Brewery in Bellaire will be in attendance as well, along with over 20 Michigan food purveyors.

Other Michigan wines I enjoyed?  Good Harbor wines (Winemaker Sam has a new proprietary red blend available ONLY at their tasting room on M-22 called "Collaboration", nice job Sam!)  Of course we all love the wines of Circa that David and Margaret Bell are producing and my pleasant surprise of the night?  Revisiting Dan Matthies from Chateau Fontaine - his Woodland White and Woodland Red were just lovely.  We stock the Woodland White and I'm hoping my wine team will bring in the Woodland Red.

For more information on this event, click on the title above and we'll direct you to the Festival web page.
