SEPTEMBER CREW PICKS

LET’S TASTE MICHIGAN CHEESE!   Courtney's Pick

What Michigan cheeses do we carry? Grassfield’s Cheese from Coopersville, Dancing Goat Creamery of Byron Center, Zingerman’s of Ann Arbor, Farm Country Amish Cheese from Lakeview and Reny Picot of Benton Harbor.

Michigan really has some beautiful and wonderful cheeses. We have the newest cheeses from Grassfields - the Fait Gras and Polkton Corners - and wow are they amazing. We also carry Dancing Goat which is nearing the end of the season on their fresh goat cheese. Get it while you can. Let’s not forget Zingerman’s or Reny Picot. We are constantly searching out new prospects close to home. Come look at all our Michigan cheeses next time you’re in the neighborhood and I will cut you a TASTE!  This Friday you can taste and meet the cheesemakers from Dancing Goat Creamery, Grassfields and Farm Country Amish Cheese at our LIVE! and Local event.

GOAT CHEESE BRUSCHETTA

Quick, easy and oh so good . . . one of my favorite party platters will include an assortment of bruschetta and toppings.  One of my favorite is grilled bread smeared with goat or serafina herbed cheese and topped with our Grand River Grocery mixed pepper or  artichoke tapenade.  You can also top with sundried tomatoes in oil and sprinkle with garden fresh basil chiffonade . . . for a colorful platter, use all three!  Click on the photo for more super simple recipes posted on our website.

SEPTEMBER MENU POSTED

Every three weeks our Culinary Artists are rolling out new dinner entree's.   Quick, delicious and super convenient.  How convenient?  Read how quick my little dinner party came together last night . . .

I worked all day Wednesday and we had invited friends over for dinner to discuss a future trip, I rolled in the driveway and they were already there!   Thanks to my little market I had grabbed a couple containers of our gazpacho (almost done for the season) which I quickly poured into mugs and handed to my hungry guests while Jeff opened wine.  I then tossed Mudlake Farms arugula with olive oil, local beets, Zingerman's goat cheese and topped with pine nuts which I served after I caught my breath and had finished my gazpacho and wine.  We worked on our trip then I popped 2 halibut and 2 grilled tenderloin Grand River Grocery entree's in the microwave and within 10 minutes we were enjoying a little more wine, a fabulous dinner and kibbitzing about our trip!

That quick and that easy and that good.  Did I mention how easy clean up was?  Everything into my recycling bin!!  To see this month's menu, please click on the photo.
