OCTOBER IN ADA EVENT: PUMPKIN CARVING DEMONSTRATION

Noon to 4 PM at Grand River Grocery

Join us on the patio of Grand River Grocery for cider and donuts ($1.00) and watch as Chef Wes and Chef Andrea carve our 70 lb. pumpkin!! This should be a fun family afternoon at the market. Pick up your pumpkin from our pumpkin patch, go home and carve it . . . then drop it off at the Ada Historical Society the next week for display and judging!

IN THE MARKET: Sample Brownwood Farms Pumpkin Butter, Pumpkin Pancakes, Stonewall Kitchen Pumpkin Muffins (super easy to make) and our Grand River Grocery Pumpkin Roll.

PUMPKIN SEED RECIPE

What to do with all those pumpkin seeds? Here's a recipe that the whole family can enjoy:

1 C pumpkin seeds, washed

2 T melted butter

3 T sugar

1/4 t cinnamon

1/4 t kosher salt

1/4 t chili powder

Toss all together and spread out on a cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.

PUMPKIN BREWS . . .

Speaking of pumpkins, we've got a nice selection of fall brews. One of our favorites is from Arcadia Ale. Jaw-Jacker is their fall seasonal ale. Using only the finest malted barley and a touch of wheat for mouth-feel, Jaw-Jacker pours a brilliant orange-amber color with truly unique flavors. Although no pumpkins are used, a blend of nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon work with malty flavors to create a bold flavor reminiscent of pumpkin pie. A light hop note balances out the beer nicely.

The label artwork showcases the Autumn theme of the beer. This seasonal brew is only available for a limited time; perfect for festivals, Halloween parties, and Thanksgiving dinner.
