This is our "First Call" for pre-orders on Creswick Farm turkeys.  They sell out fast.  This year's details:

• $3.99 per pound
• Andrea and Nathan say the turkeys should range between 12 and 24 pounds.  We know from past experience . . . there are no size guarantees with fresh turkeys (they're not pumped full of growth hormones) . . . they only know the size and weight of their turkeys a couple weeks before Thanksgiving when they start the  . . . I'll call it "harvest". 

What we do know is they sell out fast (we only get a certain number because the Creswick's are not "mass producers") and we know there is NOTHING like a fresh turkey taste-wise!

LIVE! and Local BIG Success

What a day we had last Friday celebrating all that is great in the world of food and wine in our state!  We had over 30 Michigan purveyors showcasing their products and sharing their story with customers.  We thank them all for taking time out of their busy schedules to come and share the afternoon with our market and customers.

New this year was a beer and wine tasting tent with wines from 45 North and Circa Winery, both located on the Leelanau Pennisula.  Two of our favorite northern Michigan wineries!  We were the first retail wine shop in our area (chosen by David and Margaret) to retail Circa wines.  Thanks to David and Margaret, and Steve Grossnickle (pictured here), Proprietor of 45 North for sharing time with us under the tent.  All proceeds from the tasting benefitted the non-profit Local First.

We'd also like to extend thanks to our friends at Cascade Rental for use of tents and tables (they're a local company too!!), The Community Church in Ada for use of their parking lot, and Ada Bike Shop for the fencing around the beer and wine tent.  Want to see more pictures . . . click on Steve and Jim Warren of Estate Wines and they'll direct you to our facebook page!  Thank you everyone!!

HOT OFF THE PRESS

The food "guru" from Ann Arbor, Ari Weinzweig from world famous Zingerman's Deli is at it again . . . another book HOT OFF THE PRESS and we're one of the FIRST to be selling it in our area.  Zingerman's Guide to Better Bacon is the story of "pork bellies, hush puppies, rock n'roll music, and bacon fat mayonnaise!"  It's an engaging read and full of interesting information on what Ari calls bacon, "the olive oil of America".  Here's what Zingerman's shared with us:

OCTOBER IN ADA . . .

Fall is on it's way . . . and Ada is celebrating the harvest as a community event this October.  Join the Village of Ada for it's first ever . . .
